Our Mission: Education for Every Child
The Ardentia Project is dedicated to advancing educational equity by providing underserved students with the essential tools they need to succeed. We believe that access to quality education begins with access to basic resources. Through the distribution of school supplies and community-driven support, we empower children to enter the classroom with confidence, dignity, and hope. Our mission is simple yet transformative: to ensure that no child’s potential is limited by financial hardship, and to build a future where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
About The Founder
Nathan Cox is the Founder and Executive Director of The Ardentia Project, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing educational equity by ensuring every child has the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Rooted in a belief that no student's potential should be limited by financial hardship, Nathan built The Ardentia Project from the ground up — turning a simple but powerful conviction into a movement that is transforming how communities support their youngest learners.
Raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Nathan grew up watching the city's neighborhoods weather years of economic hardship. He saw firsthand how opportunity was not always equally distributed, and how something as basic as a backpack, a notebook, or a book could shape whether a child walked into school feeling ready or left behind. That understanding planted a seed. Years later, as a Political Science student at Duquesne University and working alongside local civic leaders, Nathan found the language and the drive to act. He founded The Ardentia Project not out of obligation, but out of love for his community and an unshakable belief that change begins at the local level.
Under Nathan's leadership, The Ardentia Project has already begun making a measurable difference. The organization recently donated 250 books to children in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood, a milestone that represents far more than numbers. Each book is an investment in a child's imagination, confidence, and future.
Nathan continues to collaborate with community leaders, educators, and advocates to expand The Ardentia Project's reach and deepen its impact. He is driven by a vision of Pittsburgh where every child enters the classroom not just prepared, but hopeful, and he's committed to doing whatever it takes to make that vision real.
